***A Little Bit About Me***

I am Joan Moore and I have a wonderful family including my husband, Jay, of 24 years, my 14 year old son, Cameron, and my 10 year old daughter, Heather. Both my husband and I are from eastern Washington and northern Idaho. We lived in Bakersfield, California for 4 years, but prefer the climate and proximity to family in Washington. Olympia has been our home for fourteen years, our children were born here, and we love this area.

This will be my 24th year of teaching and my 14th year at McLane, the last eleven of which have been in 3rd grade. I have a Baccalaureate Degree in Special Education (K-12) with a minor in Reading. A Specialist Degree for Severe and Profound Disabilities, a Specialist Degree for Learning Disabilities, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Cal-State. In my career I have worked with a variety of skill abilities. I enjoy the challenges of the 3rd grade classroom and the many different learning styles it brings.

I have also worked closely with the Peer Mediation program and the GRIN Committee at McLane.
