***A Little Bit About Me***
I am Joan Moore and I have a wonderful family including my husband, Jay, my son, Cameron, and my daughter, Heather. Both my husband and I are from eastern Washington and northern Idaho. We lived in Bakersfield, California for 4 years, but prefer the climate and proximity to family in Washington. Olympia has been our home since 1992, our children were born here, and we love this area.
I have been teaching since 1978 and have been with the Olympia School District since 1992. My career in third grade began in 1996. I have a Baccalaureate Degree in Special Education (K-12) with a minor in Reading. A Specialist Degree for Severe and Profound Disabilities, a Specialist Degree for Learning Disabilities, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Cal-State. In my career I have worked with a variety of skill abilities. I enjoy the challenges of the 3rd grade classroom and the many different learning styles it brings.
I have also worked closely with the Peer Mediation program and the GRIN Committee at McLane.
