Countdown to Kindergarten March 7

Last year there were a record number of attendees at the much-loved, annual Countdown to Kindergarten event (over 300 attendees!). This informational event is held so families can learn about a variety of topics pertaining to kindergarten. The event will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Capital High School, 2707 Conger Ave NW, Olympia, WA 98502.

Learn about the 2020 Census

In mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. The census only happens once every 10 years, and it counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia and five U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Each home will receive an invitation to respond to a short questionnaire. Once the invitation arrives, responses may be sent online, by phone or by mail.

Student Transfers

Any student desiring to attend or continue to attend school in the Olympia School District, outside of their regular attendance area shall apply for a transfer. The Executive Director of Elementary Education and the Executive Director of Secondary Education will accept names for the waitlist.

Free parenting workshops offered

The Olympia School District is pleased to offer free child development workshops with Candyce Lund Bollinger. Bollinger is a parent educator and private parenting counselor in Washington State and has been practicing for more than 35 years. She provides classes and consultations for schools, colleges, civic groups, private organizations and has a private practice. She is the mother of four children and has two grandchildren.
